Wildlife Advice
Sometimes the safest way to help is to keep your distance.
Do not approach or handle an animal if doing so could put you, another person or the animal at risk.
Examples include large mammals, deer, foxes, badgers, seals, otters, birds of prey, swans, geese, herons, large seabirds, adders, bats, animals on roads or railways, animals in water or at height, and any animal behaving aggressively or unpredictably.
Never handle a bat with bare hands. Do not touch dead wild birds. Keep pets and children away and contact us for advice. A frightened or injured wild animal may defend itself. Never assume an animal is safe to touch because it is normally considered harmless.
