We are Scotland's only 24 hour animal welfare organisation

What we do

Scottish Animal Welfare are the only organisation within Scotland that operate around the clock -
24 hours a day. The organisation responds throughout the country to reports of wildlife and domestic animals in distress, in addition to this, our Inspectors investigate allegations of cruelty, neglect and wrongdoing towards animals.

Our national control room operates from our Glasgow Office, enabling efficient coordination of our resources throughout Scotland. Our National Rescue Centre is situated off the A70 between Lanark and Edinburgh which has facilities for all animals, wild and domestic.

Our facilities remain staff only and are not open to the general public, animals in our care are often recovering from abuse or injury and unnecessary disturbances can often lead to complications or further distress.
Our staff are qualified and trained in all manner of animal welfare, with most of our operational Inspectors joining the organisation following departure from other animal welfare organisations within the United Kingdom. Our Inspectors have over 98 years combined experience dealing with animal welfare in Scotland, from investigating allegations of cruelty and reporting individuals identified to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service for consideration of prosecution to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming/release of animals.
Our staff are mostly volunteers and receive no pay in return for their time, this in turn means that any money donated is spent entirely on the cause in which it was given. We receive no government or lottery funding and rely solely on the kind donations received from the public.
